A Poem by Debabrata Ghosh

'Death is the question Nature puts continually to Life
and her reminder to it that it has not yet found itself...' - Sri Aurobindo

'When the lover spoke
he left a word behind.
When the lover heard
she missed a word told.

The time passed on...
Now, hear
the death in the air
as the silence falls
on the withering faces.
Closer and closer it's coming,
tuning his footsteps
with those words twain.'

This is an unpublished poem written by Sri Debabrata Ghosh and

Debabrata Ghosh

Debabrata Ghosh, who was indeed a great Soul, has left the earthly scene.

When ASPIRATION was created, Sri Debabrata Ghosh became the First Member. He has been a person who tried to know Truth, but found that one has to go beyond Mind to find the Real Truth. And he was an indispensable member for ASPIRATION. His contributions to ASPIRATION are invaluable.

All of a sudden, Debabrata, who was known to me as Babul, left us all on last 16th June 2009 at 3-15 am due to heart failure.

On 6th June 2009, he published in ASPIRATION an article on Promod Kumar Chattopadhyay , a famous painter and writer, who wrote in Bengali the famous book "Tantrabhilashir sadhusanga" and who was also in the Sri Aurobindo Ashram from 1958 to 1975.

It was a superb article. I commented as follows :

An enlightening blog!
I have read "Tantrabhilashir sadhusanga" years ago! However, that is a marvellous and highly interesting work.
Thank you, Babul, for this presentation!

Debabrata commented on 8th June : Thank you Sri Chaki, for your kind comment,. I count on you very much.
By the way -do you know Bengali?
Kind regards.

I replied on14th June as follows:

Dear Babul [Debabrata],
As you wanted to know, I may say that I know Bengali. Please send me you postal addresss, so that I may send you two Bengali translations, Bharater Punarjnma and Bharatmata [from the writings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother respectively] and published by Mira Aditi Centre. I wanted to send a third book, Sri Aurobindo athaba Chetahar Abhijan, translation of the famous bok, Sri Aurobindo or The Adventure of Consciousness by Satprem. This was also published by Mira Aditi Centre. But I dont have an extra copy now with me. All these translations are done by me.
Please send me your postal address in an e-mail or in a message.

But I got no reply from Babul.

Yeasterday, I was informed by his daughter, Smt Deyasini Ghosh, that he has left all of us.

His date of birth was 06-07-1944.

He retired from Life Insurance Corporation of India five years ago.

His whole life after retirement was devoted to his computer (Blogs, Aspiration and Flickr) and he had read the works of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother early in his life and continued to read till his last day at home. The mos important of the websites, prior to and beside ASPIRATION was Babul’s World.

The spiritual people that he came into contact with were Anirvanji, Promode Kumar Chattopadhyay, Sri Haridas Ganguly and of course The Mother. He met The Mother in 1971.

As said by his daughter Smt Deyasini Ghosh, his near and dear ones were his wife, son and daughter. The three of them were his whole personal world.

I pray The Mother and Sri Aurobindo that Devabrata, the immortal Soul, may be at The Mother's Gracious and Blissful Shelter of Protection permanently, till he begins a New Journey on earth, with a new Blessed Life, when he will reach the Goal being a part of the New Humanity.

ASPIRATION owes a lot to him and his endeavours!
And he will be always within my heart.

In Silence and Serenity

Often, life’s actions and reactions are very much disturbing and, as human beings, we feel them to be painful, in spite of all our self-discipline and inner awareness and all our mental and intellectual preparations.

In such a situation, an inner and silence message reached me, from an Unknown source. It told me : “Be in silence and search within — aspire and you will find Truth.”

And it also told me : “March ahead, irrespective of all external actions and reactions.”

And I tried to have the silent search.

And then, after a few days, I came across the following Prayer from The Mother:

O SWEET Mother, Thou shouldst teach me to be integrally and constantly Thyself, entirely consecrated to the giving of an ever more perfect means of expression to That which wills to manifest....
All is calm, serene; there is no more struggle, no more anguish; aspiration itself becomes sovereignly peaceful in its immensity, yet loses nothing of its intensity; and through a curious opposition in the consciousness, like the obverse and reverse sides of a medal, the being perceives at one and the same time, the immutable calm of the infinite Reality in which all is for ever without any possibility of change, and the ardent and rapid march of all that becomes without cessation in an uninterrupted progression. .. And to Thee, O Lord, both are equally true.
[Prayers and Meditation, October 6, 1914]

I have read this Prayer earlier several times; but today it came to me with a miraculous inner touch.

And thus, I felt the need for “the ardent and rapid march of all that becomes without cessation in an uninterrupted progression.”

And also, I felt the need for expressing a gratitude.

Tusar Mohapatra

Tusar N Mohapatra, Director, Savitri Era Learning Forum, Ghaziabad, U.P., India, and the owner of the blog Aurora Mirabilis and several others, came to meet me at my residence on 14th May 2008. It was a meeting after two decades. We often met at Matruvihar, Sundargarh, during the period from 1985-1987, when I was at Sundargarh.

On 14th May, 2008, we had discussions about several matters concerning The Mother and Sri Aurobindo and Their Work on earth. Also he explained about Savitri Era Political Action.

Sri Aurobindo’s Action does necessarily need, finally, to include the political aspect of the Society into Its scope and range. As the political action is an essential, unavoidable and inevitable aspect of the Society, it has to be brought under the Scope of the Change that the Supramental Descent is already bringing on earth.

Tusar Mohapatra has begun a new course of Action that none has yet started. I felt that it was the Mother’s Will that is initiated through him. The beginning may be difficult and hard and slow, apparent failures may be there. But the steps will be taken.

It seemed to be a short meeting. Due to worldly circumstances, our talks ended abruptly. I still feel the need to talk to him. When we met and had the exchange of thought, it seemed to me that two horizons are meeting, as the silent Force of The Mother so willed.

Surely, we will work together.

Satprem: Life without Death

From Sandra

Sandra says :

I'm a bit stunned as I write this. I'm not an obituary writer, but here I am, for the third time in the past month-and-a-bit, writing about someone who died recently. I was just looking online for a link to Satprem 's book The Mind of the Cells for a girlfriend of mine who I chatted with today in the sunny garden here in Bonn. Another friend overheard us, and told us about his experience of being with Satprem in 1973, just after the death of Mirra Alfassa, The Mother.
And now, a few hours later, I read that Satprem died on the 9th of April this year.I know virtually nothing about Satprem, other than he wrote The Mind of the Cells and other books ( e.g. Life Without Death, on my 'to read' list…) and that he was one of the few people who understood what The Mother was doing. What he shared in The Mind of the Cells lives in my own cells…. in my heart and mind and soul and body, always there, reminding me of so something rare and often forgotten – unseen or unknown even – & not only forgotten in my own consciousness, but in the thoughts and consciousness and life of so many of those around me.

OOOO

The Mind of the Cells is about The Mother's extraordinary 'experiments' in transformation and evolution through the body. What Satprem and the Mother explored has stayed with me like a light in the darkest tunnels of my own journey. I believe I 'left' my body (as much as was possible without actually going insane or dying) when I was seven, - and that my life from that point onwards has been a path of reconnecting to this body. I deeply sense and experience that this reconnection is not simply a 'getting back in'- it's wider than that, part of my own evolution – and because I'm in the middle of this journey ( or somewhere along a spectrum that may not be vertical), I can't quite express what is actually happening.I've always felt that I am here in a 'body' for a reason, that the wild and often extremely uncomfortable physical ride this body is on is not a 'mistake' or a problem. I believe that the evolution of consciousness, of being human - of becoming - is through this body; I believe that 'enlightenment' is not a process of disconnecting from the physical into some 'higher' more ethereal realm, rather it is a fully physical and felt experience (I have to say that this is more than a belief, it's a kind of knowing that is not about being 'right'). Reading The Mind of the Cells washed over me like a wave of warm ocean, curling me into its heart, saying Yes, what you experience is absolutely precise and on track.

OOOO

Thank you Satprem, thank you Mother Mirra.

I had the same thoughts about Satprem that I had about U.G. Krishnamurti - I hoped that 'one day' I would meet him. Both lived quite reclusively, out of the public eye, and I'm sad that I did not make a greater effort to sit with them in this life. I'm reminded to never take for granted what is here, and to reach out to all who have touched me, supported me, encouraged me, and tell them how grateful I am.

And, I loved what Barindranath Chaki wrote on his Satprem blog: “Satprem cannot die…He will be there, till the Work he has undertaken is done”. Perhaps this is why I'm writing this - so that the flame of Sri Aurobindo, The Mother and Satprem can be passed along - to anyone who is touched by anything I've written, to anyone who feels that the physical experience is absolutely integral to consciousness, then please, read these extraordinary people's books, share the flame. Let's live in the fire of life, exploring all its corridors and pathways, let us – hand-in-hand – walk where there are no roads, no maps, on and into this great adventure of the unknown.

OOOO

Added later:

“It happened in the deserted canyons near Pondicherry. I was sitting there quietly, when out of a hollow came three men. Instantly I knew: “They're coming to kill me.” I stayed where I was, without moving. And strangely without any effort or concentration, I suddenly felt as if emptied of myself, without any reaction, without fear, without anything, like a stone, but a conscious stone looking unconcerned at some kind of show, just as one can be both witness and actor in a dream. Except for its neutrality, the feeling was not really that of a rock, but rather that of a body, my body, as something utterly transparent and null, and a little indistinct. Nothing moved, there was not a quiver or a throb - and I had nothing to do with it, there was no “self-control” involved, no effort. Something had taken hold of me in a transparent immobility The three men were there: two in front, one behind. I didn't move. they talked amongst themselves. Then a kind of voice in me said, “Get up.” I rose, with my back to the canyon. One of them took off my watch, no doubt to simulate a robbery. The man behind came in front of me. I saw the killer raise his arm to push me into the canyon. I followed the movement of that arm, my eyes met the gold-coloured eyed of the killer. he lowered his arm, hesitated a moment as if he was not sure what to do , or exactly why he was there. It seemed that he too now watched the scene as if it did not make any sense, or as if he had forgotten what he had come for. He turned around, the others turned, around, and they left. Then they started to run as if panic stricken. And my heart suddenly remembered that it should have been frightened, that they had wanted to kill me.. and it started pounding like mad.The only thing I know is that had there been the slightest effort on my part, the slightest contraction or reaction to push those men back, even an inner refusal, a mere “no” inside, they would have killed me instantly: the opposition thus raised would have met and challenged their vibration and the reaction would have touched off the whole process. But there was nothing, not even a breath of reaction; I was like thin air, as it wore: the others vibration passed through me like a breeze, unobstructed. Can you kill a breeze? Some kind of contact is necessary in order to kill, you have to have a handle - here, there was no handle, for the was nothing, and since there was nothing, there was nothing!”

A comment on Satprem

Dear Mr Chaki

I don't know why since some days I was trying to remember the title of Satprem's book : the Sannyasin I have read more than thirty years ago on the land of India when I stayed for a visit in Auroville. This book was kind of a bible for me at that time, when I was opening it at any page I found a relevent answer to my quest to find truth in this life. This book was the seed to show me the way. Then after a while I gave that book to some one but still keeping strong inside the impact of it. Then as a sign, suddenly, some days ago, I remembered the atmosphere of this book but forgoten the title and wondering if Satprem was still alive. So I searched in Internet and found out from your article that he died ten days ago. What a coïncidence although I've rarely thought of him during those past years. I share with you the sadness of his lost as he is a human being of our time who brought light on the way of many people's life and I am very grateful to him. For all the best to you and to those who loved him.

Satprem

[30-10-1923 — 09-04-2007]

This cannot be an obituary. I will not say that Satprem is no more! I cannot say that he has passed away! I will not write about his works and achievements and then forget him.

Definitely, he was an author. He wrote several beautiful books, the likes of which nobody has written. He has edited and organized Mother’s Agenda, which contain the seed of the Next Future, the Next Evolution. And not only that, he is a part and parcel of Mother’s Agenda.

The possibility that there will be many more authors like him is rare. His writings are what he is! And he is unique, only one.

But Satprem is not only an author, he is an adventurer, following the footprints of The Adventure, and of The Creatrix. He wanted to break the habit of the body, the habit of death. He wanted to break into the realm of the supermen's world, the New World.

Man has to pass into the becoming of the Superman. Man has to transform himself, individually and socially, so that the New Race will come into being on earth. The Supramental World cannot come on earth, unless there is some real endeavour for it. And that has to come as soon as possible. That is the only Solution before the humankind.

And that is what Satprem has been doing. Satprem, along with Sujata, concentrated exclusively to the transformation of the cellular consciousness of the body and to the realisation of the next evolution, from Mind to the Supermind. They were / are in search of the great journey from manhood to supermanhood. And all this is the Work of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo.

Satprem described Sri Aurobindo as The Adventure of Consciousness. He wrote :

“The age of adventures is over. Even if we reach the seventh galaxy, we will go there helmeted and mechanized, and it will not change a thing for us; we will find ourselves exactly as we are now: helpless children in the face of death, living beings who are not too sure how they live, why they are alive, or where they are going. On the earth, as we know, the times of Cortez and Pizarro are over; one and the same pervasive Mechanism stifles us: the trap is closing inexorably. But, as always, it turns out that our bleakest adversities are also our most promising opportunities, and that the dark passage is only a passage leading to a greater light. Hence, with our backs against the wall, we are facing the last territory left for us to explore, the ultimate adventure: ourselves.”
He further wrote :
“There is no more room on the teeming beaches, no more room on the crowded roads, no more room in the ever-expanding anthills of our cities. We have to find a way out elsewhere. But there are many kinds of "elsewheres." Those of drugs are uncertain and fraught with danger, and above all they depend upon an outer agent; an experience ought to be possible at will, anywhere, at the grocery store as well as in the solitude of one's room--otherwise it is not an experience but an anomaly or an enslavement. Those of psychoanalysis are limited, for the moment, to the dimly lit caves of the "unconscious," and most importantly, they lack the agency of consciousness, through which a person can be in full control, instead of being an impotent witness or a sickly patient.
Those of religion may be more enlightened, but they too depend upon a god or a dogma; for the most part they confine us in one type of experience, for it is just as possible to be a prisoner of other worlds as it is of this one--in fact, even more so. Finally, the value of an experience is measured by its capacity to transform life; otherwise, it is simply an empty dream or a hallucination. Sri Aurobindo leads us to a twofold discovery, which we so urgently need if we want to find an intelligible meaning to the suffocating chaos we live in, as well as a key for transforming our world. By following him step by step in his prodigious exploration, we are led to the most important discovery of all times, to the threshold of the Great Secret that is to change the face of this world, namely, that consciousness is power.”
Following the footprints of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, Satprem himself became an adventurer. His existence is a dedication to the Cause of passing on to the Next Evolution, for creating the New World, where there will no more of any death or decay, any old age, any disease, any defeat for man. He endeavoured for translating this dream onto the reality. He was preparing himself for the great leap beyond ordinary humanity.

Satprem cannot die. I feel his presence, without any vacant feeling. He will be there, till the Work he has undertaken is done! If he dies, along with him dies the human hope and the human dream. He is a hope for all of us — the dreamers. He is a hope for all of us — the rebels. He is the hope for all of us — the adventurers towards The New Horizon, The New World.

He is the Spirit that can never die. The spirit will conquer death and let others conquer death, in the Way led by The Light and The Force.

His name will shine for ever at the Feet of The Master and The Mother. He will be present in the New World, among the New Race!

Good Bye, Bhaja Bhai

Tusar N Mahapatra has posted in Savitri Era that, as informed by Saroj Kumar Patnaik from Rourkela, Bhajakrushna Sahu is no more. “Bhaja bhai, as he was fondly addressed by everyone, has been an organizer of Sri Aurobindo Study Circles in the Western part of Orissa for more than three decades. He was working even before Madhu bhaina (Madhusudan Mishra) started touring Western Orissa. Presently, he was working at the State level along with Anadi Charan Swain and C.H. Nirakar.” [TNM]

I personally knew Bhaja Bhai and have several times met him in different parts of Orissa and have worked with him in the service of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo. He was a true follower of Them and has contributed a lot in Their Service.

May the Grace of The Mother be ever with Bhaja Bhai !

Auroentreprises

All things shall change in God's transfiguring hour

The spiritual journey of Man has a revolutionary and evolutionary turning since Sri Aurobindo. He and Mira Alfassa, known as The Mother, have given to Spirituality a totally new turn and meaning, a completely new purpose and value.

A true spirituality does not any more mean fleeing from the world and life. We need not go to the forest, forsaking the social life and ‘renouncing’ everything, and become a recluse or a monk or a sannyāsin, after you attain the fiftieth year of your life and then strive to attain nirvāna or moksha and be free from the cycle of birth and rebirth for ever. Thereby by doing so, we allow the world and creation to go on, as it is going on now, in spite of the attainment of nirvāna or moksha by several yogis, seekers, saints. The world continues to remain as it was, in ignorance and darkness, in suffering and struggle and death. After nirvāna or moksha, we still allow the Divine, the Supreme, to incarnate in human form several times, but we will regard the coming back as a bondage of ignorance.

As the principle of Existence-Consciousness-Bliss, the Divine, is Truth, then this Creation, which is but a Manifestation of the Divine, cannot be false. When we are a part of the Manifestation, there is no reason why should we withdraw ourselves from the Manifestation.
Here on earth, the Divine is manifesting Himself — through Evolution — from Matter to Mind, and then onwards towards the supramental race in a supramental world. This is Evolution. As Mind has evolved and is evolving, the principle of Supermind will also descend on earth and be evolved.

Evolution aims at ultimately manifesting That which is the Source of this Manifestation, the Supreme Existence-Consciousness-Bliss (in Sanskrit and other Indian languages, Sat-Chit-Ananda or Sachchidananda), the Divine. This principle of Existence-Consciousness-Bliss is involved in Matter. That has become Matter. What is involved in Matter, is being evolved.

The aim of Sri Aurobindo’s Yoga is not the attainment of nirvāna or moksha, not a freedom from the world and the cycles of birth and rebirth. The aim is not spiritual selfishness. The aim is not to say that others may continue to suffering, but we will leave this whirlpool.

However, we know that the mankind, along with this earth, is at present in a great turmoil and chaos and disharmony. There is unrest, struggle, warfare and violence everywhere.

Yet, man has the inborn capacity to conquer and master and transform all his imperfections and all darkness and ignorance around him, to grow into a creative, constructive, perfect and divinized higher being. The human society may also grow accordingly, conquering all darkness within and without, surpassing all racial, religious, linguistic, political and other artificial barriers, divisions and differences.

Sri Aurobindo and The Mother do not speak of the Realisation of the Divine, of the Soul or the Psychic being, but also of an integral transformation of the entire human personality — his mind, and life and body, also of his ascent to the several planes of the Superconscient and to the Supermind.

Sri Aurobindo and The Mother aims at the total transformation of the human existence and the world. They want to change the world, the human lot. They know the bright and joyous future that the Divine has designed for this earth. They told us : don’t leave this world, change this; don’t give up yourself, transform yourself.

This is the Truth. We must participate in this Truth. We must cooperate with the Divine. We must march onwards, by transforming ourselves, towards becoming the supramental race in a supramental world. That is the only Way now left for us, for the human beings.

Sri Aurobindo has said that the time has come when man must surpass himself. Man is not perfect. He is not complete. But he has the aspiration and dream for attaining perfection and completeness.

Out of Man, the Superman shall manifest. Man has to become the basis for the advent of the Superman. He has to become the Superman. The purpose of the appearance of man must now be fulfilled. Man’s surpassing himself will do that. Man has to collaborate with the new Evolution, or the evolutionary forces will ignore him and go beyond him and find out its own means.

If we do not accept the Truth, if we do not try to change ourselves and the World, if we choose to continue with Old World of ignorance and darkness, of suffering and struggle and death, then result of our choice will be the Abyss.

The Mother has told us :
Men, countries, continents!
The choice is imperative: Truth or the abyss.

OOOO

This march onwards towards the Supramental Manifestation on earth is not only an Idea or Ideal only. This is not an abstract ‘spiritual’ teaching. It is a practical Truth, a practical necessity.

The Ascent to Supermind and the Descent of the Supramental Consciousness on earth makes the Evolution from Man to Superman possible.

Sri Aurobindo said:
“The supramental change is the thing decreed and inevitable in the evolution of the earth-consciousness; for its upward ascent is not ended and mind is not its last summit. But the change may arrive, take form and endure, there is needed the call from below with a will to recognise and not deny the Light when it comes, and there is needed the sanction of the Supreme from above.”

Supermind is out of reach of the common ordinary mind. But when Man reaches the higher regions of mind, namely the Higher Mind, the Illumined Mind, the Intuitive Mind, and then the Overmind, as defined by Sri Aurobindo, he can have the glimpses and the touch of Supermind. It may be very difficult, even appear to be impossible. But when the Supramental Consciousness is present on earth, things should be now easier, much easier.

Now the Supermind is actively present on earth. Let me quote the oft-quoted message of the Mother from Mother’s Agenda Vol.1:

First Supramental Manifestation
(During the common meditation on Wednesday
The 29th February 1956)

This evening the Divine Presence, concrete and material, was present amongst you. I had the form of a living gold, bigger than the universe, and I was facing a huge and massive golden door, which separated the world from the Divine.
As I looked at the door, I knew and willed in a single movement of consciousness, that ‘the time has come’, and lifting with both hands a mighty golden hammer I struck one blow on the door and the door was shattered to pieces.
And then the supramental Light and Force and Consciousness rushed down upon earth in an uninterrupted flow.

The Mother has said in this connection:

The Manifestation of the Supramental upon earth is no more a promise but a living fact, a reality. It is at work here, and one day will come when the most blind, the most unconscious, even the most unwilling shall be obliged to recognise it.

OOOO

The Mother had a Dream which is materializing As Auroville.
In Her “The Dream” The Mother has written :

“There should be somewhere upon earth a place … where all human beings of goodwill, sincere in their aspiration, could live freely as citizens of the world, obeying one single authority, that of the supreme Truth; a place of peace, concord, harmony, where all the fighting instincts of man would be used exclusively to conquer the causes of his suffering and misery, to surmount his weakness and ignorance, to triumph over his limitations and incapacities; a place where the needs of the spirit and the care for progress would get precedence over the satisfaction of desires and passions, the seeking for pleasures and material enjoyments….
In brief, it would be a place where the relations among human beings, usually based almost exclusively upon competition and strife, would be replaced by relations of emulation for doing better, for collaboration, relations of real brotherhood.”

OOOO

The Mother formed and gave approval to Auroentreprises on 1971, with Her Blessings for it, to be registered in Orissa.
Auroentreprises is an endeavour to realize progressively the Ideal of the perfect man in a perfect society as visioned by The Mother and Sri Aurobindo.
Auroentreprises aims to create a commercially integrated spiritual society with a view to promote a progressive universal harmony.

Auroentreprises may not be a second Auroville. But it will be somewhat similar, as it will be a project in Orissa for local development and for the Future of Mankind. The Dream of The Mother is also the Inspiration for Auroentreprises.

Auroentreprises will form a nucleus township somewhere in Orissa, and it will be named Auronagar. The process for selection and acquisition of land for the purpose has already began and, hopefully, it will be soon finalized.

It is hoped that the followers of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo throughout the world, and all other persons open to Truth and the Divine, will support this project of Auroentreprises wholeheartedly.

Time

What is Time?
That is question put by one of my friends.

In the Ultimate Wisdom, Time is only a dimension of Supreme Existence, what may be defined as the Existence-Consciousness-Bliss. Before That, there is no Time. Time begins, as and when Manifestation begins ! With Manifestation, Time is Eternal.
Big Bang or no Big Bang, in Manifestation Time is Eternal When we read Hawking, we are led to believe that there are and will be many universes, and therefore many Big Bangs!
But as the Supreme is Eternal, His Manifestation is also Eternal. There is no beginning, no end. The Supreme Will is not limited by human thought or human belief or human understanding!
Hence one aspect of Time is that it is not there. And another aspect is that it is Eternal. Time is then Eternity. And when it comes to the human level, it becomes artificially limited to seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries, millennia and so on divided by men, artificially.
However, in the pragmatic sense, that is also a level of Truth - though a lesser Truth.

oooo

Above, I referred to Stephen Hawking. Hawking is the newest scientist-thinker who does not believe in the concept of 'singularity' of the classical Big Bang theory. And in his concept, the extension of universe is beyond time and space, that is, eternal. He has said that there are and will be several universes. There will be no end. No end of Matter. No end of universes. No end of Time and Space. There is no limit, no boundary. His thought is very close to Indian Philosophy. I seek to quote about his concepts :
“In collaboration with Jim Hartle, Hawking developed a model in which the Universe had no boundary in space-time, replacing the initial singularity of the classical Big Bang models with a region akin to the North pole; while one cannot travel North of the North pole, there is no boundary there. While originally the no-boundary proposal predicted a closed Universe, discussions with Neil Turok led to the realization that the no-boundary proposal is consistent with a Universe which is not closed also.” {Wikipaedia]

Jagabandhu Behura and Amar Singh are no more

Tusar N Mohapatra has posted in Aurora Mirabilis on December 02, 2006:

A leading light of The Mother's work in the Western Orissa, Jagabandhu Behura of Rajgangpur passed away on September 6, 2oo6 at the age of 80 at Bhubaneswar.
Another Orissa associate and an ardent devotee of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo, Amar Singh, aged 97 years, left his body on November 10, 2006 at Noida.

(posted by Tusar N Mohapatra)

I knew them personally and came into their personal contact some times during 1970’s and 1980’s during the course of doing The Mother’s work.

Both of them were true and worthy children of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo. They were dedicated souls, in search of the New Light. The Grace of The Mother and The Lord will be with them for ever !

And challenging it,
The inner Light glows.

Patrice Marot is no more

Patrice Marot is no more

I cannot easily forget the self-designed passing away of my friend Patrice Marot on June 29, 2006.

Patrice hailed from France. We have worked together for nine years, though we have not seen each other ever. But we had talked over phone for long periods; we had correspondence through letters and also through e-mails. Above all, we were very close in our thoughts and planning. He was the Managing Director of Mira Aditi Centre at Mysore. And I was chosen by him to work as the Bengali translator of the Books published in English by Mira Aditi. Mira Aditi Centre is an international publisher of books, mainly written and edited by Satprem, including thirteen volumes of Mother's Agenda. Satprem is a Frenchman, who was a disciple and the confidante of the Mother, when he was in Sri Aurobindo Ashram (till Her passing away in 1973).

Till 2004, I have translated into Bengali various books published by Mira Aditi, and my translations were also published by Mira Aditi. Books translated by me include Sri Aurobindo or the Adventure of Consciousness , written by Satprem, India's Rebirth, a collection from the writings of Sri Aurobindo , and India the Mother, a collection from the writings of the Mother, and a few other books written by Satprem.

Patrice left Mira Aditi in 2004. Before departure Patrice did not inform me anything. I came to know it from other people working in Mira Aditi and some others involved with Mira Aditi. I have kept contact with Michel Danino after his leaving Mira Aditi. He is now the founder of IFIH, of which I am also a member.

But I could not find Patrice. He was so close to my heart and mind, but I could not trace him out.

I was informed by some of my friends that on 29th June 2006, Patrice left us all for ever. It is a bolt from the blue. A tremendous shock.

On 23rd October 2006, I received the message that Patrice is no more. On knowing about the sudden, tragic and undesirable demise of such a capable and worthy person like Patrice Marot, I am heavily shocked. Still I do not believe it.

May Patrice remain in Peace, wherever he is now !
May the Mother and the Lord be ever with him!
I will always remember him!

All life

I post my writings in my blog at Zaadz, and also in The Visionland , my Pod at Zaadz. Further, also I write in my Website The New Horizon and the three Blogs at Blogger, which I have newly started : The New Vision , All choice and Barin Chaki . However, I am still inspired to join and write in a larger and wider blogging network like Sulekha.com, wherein a great personality like Manoj Das is a member and blogger. I always admired him. And besides him, there are some other good writers and bloggers ther at Sulekha.com. Hence, I have come here, with my new Blog Viewpoints. This Blog will be about the Aurobindonian viewpoints, about the New Light, the New Horizon, about the New World that is now being formed in a subtle but sure way, especially after the First Supramental Manifestation on the 29th day of February 1956, about which The Mother [Mira Alfassa] had declared. This creation and formation of the New World, this fulfilmemt of the Vision thereof, is the most important thing that inspires me. Obviously, I am interested in the Supramental Manifestation and the Integral Transformation as visioned and foreseen and foretold by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.According to Sri Aurobindo, Man has to evolve into a Higher Consciousness. But it is not an indefinite consciousness, not any consciousness that we encounter and that seem higher to us, but the Consciousness which is defined and termed by Sri Aurobindo as the Supramental Consciousness, the Supermind. For the Advent of the Supramental Consciousness, Sri Aurobindo says that Man has to ascend from the ordinary plane ot our Mind to various higher levels of Mind, of the universal principle of Mind, and then to the Supermind. Man has to go through the ways of Transformation. And when the human aspiration rises to a forceful height, then only Supermind can be approached.
The Mother [Mira Alfassa] was the Person who caused the Descent of the Supramental Consciousness on earth on the 29th February 1956. The purpose of this Supramental Descent was to make possible the ascending journey of the human being to the Supramental Plane and the further Descent of the Supramental Consciousness on earth to begin and complete the next evolution.

I seek to place below the oft-quoted statement from the Mother:
first supramental manifestation
(During the common meditation on Wednesday The 29th February 1956)
This evening the Divine Presence, concrete and material, was there present amongst you. I had the form of a living gold, bigger than the universe, and I was facing a huge and massive golden door, which separated the world from the Divine. As I looked at the door, I knew and willed, in a single movement of consciousness, that ‘the time has come’, and lifting with both hands a mighty golden hammer I struck one blow on the door and the door was shattered to pieces. Then the supramental Light and Force and Consciousness rushed down upon earth in an uninterrupted flow.

This event is the background now, for all the human activities on earth, for the human progress, for the next evolution, whether one is aware of it or not. That was, and is, the turning point of the human journey.
This was, and is, the purpose of the coming of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother on earth : the Manifestation of the Supramental Consciousness here, so that Man can change and transform himself into the Supramental Being. By the half-lit and diminished principle of Mind, Man can rise from the present state of a half-prepared mental animal to a great extent, but cannot attain Perfection, cannot rise to the height of becoming a Supramental Being and cause an end to his miseries, his ignorance, his inconscience, incapacities and death. This transformation has to be integral and involve the physical, mental, emotional and vital aspects of Man, and will have three stages, psychic, spiritual, and supramental. Transformation has to concern both the individual and collective.
This Blog will be concerned with discussions and presentations relating to the Supramental Manifestation and the Integral Way and connected ideas and thoughts and matters. Though the writings here will be mostly around Sri Aurobindo and the Mother and Their Teaching, there will often be references to other thinkers and philosophers and spiritual people also. This Blog may be concerned about other matters also, which may seem to be unconnected, but really nothing is unconnected. Sri Aurobindo has told : All life is Yoga. Everything in the world is related to our endeavours in an integral yoga.
